ROGER WILLIAMS PARK ZOO SHARES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF HISTORY WHICH ENABLES OTHERS TO COMPREHEND HOW THE ZOO CAME TO BE AND HOW IT HAS GROWN AND DEVELOPED INTO WHAT IT IS TODAY.
Founded in 1872, Roger Williams Park Zoo was one of the first zoos to open in the United States. Being the one of the first major zoos, the were heavily influential among other zoos across New England, and eventually the nation. The zoo that we know now, full of education opportunities and an established, was not what it was like before. The concept of education at the zoo was unknown until Roger Williams Park Zoo introduced it and influenced zoos around the nation to do so. Over the course of their one-hundred and forty-five years in business, they established a zoo that was more deeply rooted than just showing off incredible animals. They made it a key point to educate any of those having an interest in environmental science, especially students, because they care about the development of young minds and embracing passion for any type of future careers.
